FUTEK offers a variety of shunt cal resistors as an accessory to be used with FUTEK strain-gauged displays + controllers. FUTEK’s shunt resistors act as a simulation of a load or as an “electronic load”. Selecting a resistor to scale 75% - 80% of the sensor is the rule of thumb. Shunt resistors will allow users to verify output. FUTEK’s resistors are highly accurate and have a low PPM of 50PPM for every change and small changes in extreme temperatures from -40 degrees C to 100 degrees C. FUTEK offers 3 standard shunt resistors from 60.4k ohm’s, 100k ohm’s, and 150k ohm’s; however according to the value, product and bridge resistance FUTEK can customize a shunt resistor to fit your needs. Our sensors use bonded foil strain gages and are typically used in a Wheatstone Bridge with a Full-Bridge configuration. The Full-Bridge consists of four resistors. In electronics, a Shunt Resistor is used to allow the current to pass around another point in the circuit. This simulation can be used as a tool to verify the output of the sensor. Shunt Resistors typically have a very small tolerance (±0.01%) and a very small Temperature Coefficient (±10ppm/°C).
