Cap Torque Meter | Digital Bottle Cap Torque Tester

What is a bottle cap torque tester?
In bottle capping applications, quality assurance engineers want to ensure that consistent force and torque are applied in bottle caps, which is key to reducing product rejection rates.

The capping torque is not only important to ensure that the bottle is shipped properly sealed to avoid leaking during transportation, but bottle cap torque tester for repeatable measuring of opening & closing torque of bottle caps are paramount in child-resistant safety caps.
Further, systems that require sanitized or sterilized packaging, verification of successful cap torque measurement is critical for seal validation and quality control.

Why use a FUTEK sensor in your cap torque meter application?
To accomplish this, a bi-axial torque and thrust sensor is used in the capping press as a cap torque meter to ensure precision, consistency, and seal integrity. FUTEK digital cap torque tester is ideally suited for basic clockwise and counter-clockwise bottle torque tests.

FUTEK MBA500 Torque and Thrust Reaction Torque Sensor measures application and removal torque of bottle cap up to 500 lb-in (56.5 Nm) with an accuracy of ±0.25%. The Torque and Thrust Bi-Axial Load Cell is designed to measure reaction torque moments as well as tension and compression loads. Temperature-compensated and constructed of all aluminum, this torque/thrust sensor is able to achieve an impressive 0.2% nonlinearity and yet provide 150% (50 to 150 lb) 125% (200 lb) over-capacity.

Excellent performance and high precision are achieved through two separate outputs for applied torque and thrust forces. Force/Torque sensors are used throughout the industry for product testing, robotic assembly, grinding, and polishing. The MBA500 Torque and Thrust Biaxial Sensor offers an excellent solution for measuring Loads in tension and compression as well as torque in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction. The MBA500 is compact weighing only 6.5 oz, and offers a compact design.

How it Works
  1. Operators have installed a biaxial sensor into their production line to monitor the actuator/motor powering the capping press.

  2. Installed directly underneath the capping press' actuator, this biaxial sensor measures the torque and thrust exerted as each cap is sealed onto its respective container.

  3. These torque and thrust measurements can be amplified through FUTEK's IAA Series Amplifier to a PLC, shown on a digital display (IPM650 or IHH500) or streamed directly to a PC using FUTEK's USB Solutions.

  4. If the instrument is paired with FUTEK's SENSIT™ Test and Measurement Software operators can log, graph and capture all the data on the PC.
