Torque Sensors

Torque Sensors manufactured in US by FUTEK Advanced Sensor Technology (FUTEK), offering a huge selection of Torque Sensors, utilizing one of the most advanced technologies in the Sensor Industry: Metal foil strain gauge technology.

A Torque Sensor, is a transducer that converts a torsional mechanical input into an electrical output signal. Torque Sensor, are also commonly known as a Torque Transducer.

Metal foil strain gauge based technology facilitates a design of Torque Sensor through the following ‘Lehman’ described process (by department):
  1. A Torque ‘flexure,’ a physical unit comprised of high strength materials, is designed and fabricated by FUTEK Advanced Sensor Technologies Engineering Team and In-House Machine shop, respectively.
  2. Metal foil strain gauges are then bonded to a ‘web’ or most sensitive area of the flexure by FUTEK Advanced Sensor Technology’s Lamination Department.
  3. The Metal foil strain gauge Wheatstone bridge configuration is then wired by our specialized department while accounting for temperature compensation affects of the transducer/sensor.
  4. When Our NIST Traceable Calibration Department applies a mechanical moment, a weight placed upon a moment arm either in the clockwise or counter-clockwise direction, the strain gauge then does its magic by capitalizing in this mechanical deformation and thus producing an electrical resistance change proportional to the load.

FUTEK Advanced Sensor Technology’s Torque Sensors, feature both Reaction and Rotary Torque Sensors, in which the former use static and the latter uses dynamic torque mechanics.

Reaction Torque Sensors, utilize a strain gage full bridge configuration that is maintenance free with immovable non-rotating parts that can be used to check residual torque on a fastener. For example, our compact TAT200 Mini Screw Driver Reaction Torque Sensor, may be used to determine the necessary torque involved to resume tightening and thus overcoming frictional effects of a fastener.

FUTEK Rotary Torque Sensors, dynamic torque mechanics offer the best advantage for accurate measurements in power tool performance. We offer non-contact in-line mounting configurations and are capable of sensing torsional rotational speeds up to 12,000 RPM.

FUTEK Advanced Sensor Technologies strain gauge based torque sensors are widely known in many industries to contain:
