Description

Application Use

The LTH350 Through Hole Donut/Washer Load Cell is a miniature, low-profile sensor designed for compression applications requiring the load structure to pass through the sensor such as bolt clamping force measurement.  

Design

Its compact dimensions, light weight, and flexible inner diameter enable seamless integration into space-constrained setups without adding significant bulk to the assembly. The custom full bridge strain gauge and unique monolithic gauge design reduce output errors from extraneous/off-axis loads. Its low power consumption makes it ideal for battery-operated applications or setups where minimizing heat generation is crucial.

LTH350’s durable 17-4 PH stainless steel construction and operational temperature range up to 380°F (193°C) make it ideal for demanding environments. Its low deflection of 0.002 in (0.05 mm) nominal satisfies applications that require a fast dynamic response. The load cell is RoHS compliant and includes a strain relief cable for enhanced protection and signal integrity.

Calibration and Customization

FUTEK’s ISO-certified calibration lab offers multiple options to ensure precision, reliability, and seamless integration with various instruments. For customized solutions or highly specialized applications such as extreme temperatures, radiation, vacuum/low outgassing, or high vibration/shock environments, please contact FUTEK. A customized version of the LTH family of sensors resides in Nasa’s Curiosity Mars rover. Manufactured by FUTEK in 2008, it continues to provide accurate drilling force measurements in extreme Martian conditions.
