FUTEK Announces Sponsorship of The Ohio State University in the Formula North 2016 Competition

Formula North is an annual automotive engineering student design competition, intended to promote the awareness of both student innovation and engineering expertise through formula racing. Students must design, build, and complete an open cockpit, single seat Formula One-style racecar.

Students are evaluated on design, cost, presentation, overall dynamic, skidpad, acceleration, autocross, endurance, and energy efficiency. The Ohio State University placed 4th in design, 4th in skidpad, and 5th in the business/marketing competition.

The Ohio State University students used FUTEK’s LCM300 In Line Load Cells, and FUTEK’s IAA110 Voltage Amplifier in order to optimize the performance of their racecar. Andrew Beckerich The Ohio State University’s Team Captain stated, “Our FUTEK load cells and amplifiers were an integral part of our vehicle's data acquisition system. They were quick and easy to set up, and provided valuable data throughout our testing.”

The Ohio State University team looks to participate in future student-run Formula One racing competitions, and FUTEK will be happy to support them in their future endeavors.

About Formula North: Formula North is a Canadian Formula student-run competition. The competition tests student’s abilities to build and race a Formula One-style racecar.
