Model LCB400 is a Rod End Load Cell (Tension/Compression) designed for applications involving Inline Actuators or Hydraulic Jacks with Male/Female Threads. The standard LCB400 Actuator Load Cell (Tension/Compression) model has male/female threads, uses a lightweight 2024 Aluminum for lower capacities and a robust 17-4 Stainless Steel for the higher capacities. This model is well suited for the mid range to high range capacity requirements (1,000 lb – 10,000 lb). For any applications that require a higher capacity range, please refer to the LCB450.
This Rod End Load Cell (Tension/Compression) has high accuracy and high stiffness. It has Nonlinearity of ±0.5% and Deflection of 0.0031” nominal. The standard LCB400 Rod End Load Cell (Tension/Compression) can be modified or customized to meet your requirements and most models are in our inventory, making them available for 24 hour shipping. Similar to our entire Load Cell product line, this model is manufactured in US, and uses metal foil strain gauge technology.
Open Loop Linear Actuators - Open Loop
An open-loop linear actuation system can be accomplished by using by measuring and controlling the voltage or current sent to the actuator rotational servo motor. This open-loop approach leads to a 20% error in the force measurement as there are inherent external interferences that are not captured by the voltage and current measurements, such as actuator friction or extraneous factors.
Closed-Loop Linear Actuators using Load Cell for Force Measurement
As more precision is required for the push/pull force of the linear actuator, several applications require a load cell force sensor installed in line with the linear actuator. The load cell can be placed externally or internally within the actuator. This approach provides force feedback control accuracy of 1% or better. One common application is the use of Actuator Load Cell (aka Rod End Load Cell) to measure the launching force of UAV, ensuring that the linear actuator propels the UAV with the necessary amount of force.
