Load Cell Pedals | Load Cell Brake Pedal Force Sensor

Utilizing FUTEK's Pedal Force Sensors (load cell pedals), automotive manufacturers are able to verify the safety and reliability of their automobile's braking mechanics. Pedal Force Sensors(aka load cell brake pedal) are designed to measure load applied to the brake, accelerator, and clutch pedals during acceleration, deceleration, and transmission shift events.

FUTEK Pedal Load Cell sensors are suitable for automotive testing in support of the following standards:

SAE J2909: Light Vehicle Dry & Wet Stopping Distance Test Procedure (brake testing);
ECE R13H: Provisions for passenger cars braking;
ISO 7975: Passenger cars — Braking in a turn — Open-loop test method.

FUTEK supports Brake by Wire system manufacturers by offering sensors that are optimized for brake pedal and caliper testing.

How it Works

Brake system testing is normally carried out during various stages of the manufacturing process. It starts in the initial development stage, followed by endurance, lab and track testing, and continues through the production process for added quality assurance.
In this particular application, operators may utilize FUTEK's LAU220 Pedal Load Cell, which is equipped with a mounting plate to ease installation.
Mounted to the top of the automobile's load cell brake pedal, this pedal force load cell accurately measures and records applied forces during scheduled tests. These tests are carried out to validate the integrity of the brake system.
The top surface of the load cell pedal sensor is spherical, centralizing the impact force.
Operators can monitor the data via FUTEK’s IHH500 Intelligent Digital Hand Held Display or IPM650 Panel Mount Display; or it can be streamed to a computer via FUTEK’s USB Solutions.
The data can then be monitored through FUTEK's SENSIT™ Test and Measurement Software. SENSIT™ can monitor up to 16 channels of measurement readings, as well as live graph and data log.
This system can also be utilized for accelerator, clutch, and parking brake pedal testing.
